Chris Pappas introduces bill to strengthen northern border security

September 6, 2024

MANCHESTER, N.H. —With the number of illegal crossings rising in the past year, Congressman Chris Pappas is introducing a bill to strengthen border security.

Pappas, along with two other House members, is backing the bill to create a northern border coordination center aimed at improving communication and training for law enforcement.

“There has definitely been an apprehension of individuals that are trafficking illicit substances. We know about the drug crisis here in New Hampshire, and we’ve got to make sure that we are shutting off all avenues for these substances to be able to flow ultimately into our state,” Pappas said.

Earlier this summer, the Senate passed a similar bill to establish the coordination center.
