Congressman Pappas tapped to chair House Veterans’ Affairs Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations
Washington, D.C. – Today Congressman Chris Pappas (D-NH) was elected by his Democratic colleagues to serve as the Chair of the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs. This subcommittee is charged with leading investigations and oversight nationwide to help foster transparency and efficiency within the Department of Veterans Affairs and all other federal programs pertaining to our veterans. Additionally, Congressman Pappas will serve on the Subcommittee on Economic Opportunity which oversees the education, employment, and training of our veterans. Congressman Pappas was appointed to serve on the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee earlier this month.
Congressman Chris Pappas issued the following statement:
“Our nation’s veterans put their lives on the line to defend our freedoms, and it is our responsibility to do everything in our power to ensure they are cared for when they return home. As the new chairman of the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee, I plan to work across the aisle to restore our veterans’ faith in the VA and make sure they receive the benefits they have earned. I will also fight to improve access to care by streamlining bureaucracy, increasing transparency, and holding the Department’s leadership accountable. We are forever indebted to our brave veterans, and it is my honor to serve as a watchdog for them in Washington.”
