Congressman Pappas votes for passage of Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans Act of 2019

May 14, 2019

Washington, D.C. - This evening the House of Representatives unanimously passed the Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans Act of 2019 under suspension of the rules. The bill would expand VA benefits to include Navy veterans who were stationed off the coast of Vietnam during the Vietnam War. Congressman Chris Pappas, a co-sponsor of the bill, sits on the House Veterans' Affairs Committee and serves as Chair of the House VA Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations.

"I'm pleased to see overwhelming bipartisan support for this bill to rightfully expand benefits to Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans," said Congressman Pappas. "Any veteran who has been exposed to harmful conditions overseas or here at home deserves VA benefits that honor their service and sacrifice to this country. Ensuring appropriate coverage and care for our veterans is one of our most solemn responsibilities as a government. I hope the Senate will muster the same overwhelming bipartisan support for this measure to do right by our Vietnam War veterans. As a member of the House Veterans' Affairs Committee, I'm deeply committed to expanding benefits to every veteran across this country who has faced health challenges as a result of their service."
