Pappas Hears from Granite Staters about the Importance of Child Tax Credit
On Wednesday night, Pappas voted to pass a bipartisan tax package that includes an expansion of the child tax credit that would help the families of 29,000 children in New Hampshire
Today, Congressman Chris Pappas (NH-01) spoke with New Hampshire parents, child care providers, and advocates about the importance of the expanded Child Tax Credit (CTC). On Wednesday, Pappas voted to pass the Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act, which will expand the child tax credit once again, restore research and development (R&D) deductions for small businesses, and improve New Hampshire’s ability to build new affordable housing.
Pappas was joined by New Hampshire parents who have been helped by the expanded child tax credit, as well as Anne Grassie from the Rochester Child Care Center and Amanda Sears from the Campaign for a Family Friendly Economy. They spoke about the importance of the CTC and shared their personal stories about how the credit has helped them and their families.
“I was pleased to sit down and talk with Granite State parents, child care professionals, and advocates to discuss the importance of the expanded child tax credit,” said Congressman Pappas. “I was proud to vote for this bipartisan, middle-class tax cut that will help ensure that Granite Staters can keep more of their hard-earned money and make ends meet. This tax credit will provide meaningful relief to Granite State families, and I urge the Senate to pass it at once and for President Biden to sign it into law.”

Pappas fought for the original expansion of the Child Tax Credit in the American Rescue Plan, and to extend the expanded Child Tax Credit to help lower costs for Granite State families. It’s estimated that 29,000 children in New Hampshire’s First District will benefit from the expanded Child Tax Credit in the first year.
