Pappas Releases PSA Video with Resources to Protect Granite Staters from Fraud and Scams
Last week, Congressman Chris Pappas (NH-01) joined officials from the Federal Trade Commission and New Hampshire Department of Justice for an online webinar to share resources and information to protect Granite Staters from scams and fraud. Following that event, Congressman Pappas’s office released a video PSA to allow individuals and organizations to have on-demand access to vital information to protect themselves and others from scams.

“Scammers who steal money and personal information represent a clear and present danger to New Hampshire residents, especially older Granite Staters who are routinely targeted with increasingly sophisticated attempts to exploit and take advantage of them,” said Congressman Pappas. “That is why it is critically important that we provide the resources and support that individuals need to identify these scams, to raise awareness, and to educate communities about where they can turn to get help. I’m grateful to the representatives from the Federal Trade Commission and the New Hampshire Department of Justice who joined me on the webinar to share information, and for the work, they do every day to protect our friends and neighbors from scams.”

More than 100,000 Americans were the victims of scams last year — and two-thirds of those were senior citizens. According to the FBI, 400 New Hampshire residents 60 and older fell victim to scams in 2023, costing a total of nearly $11 million.
