Pappas Small Business Bill Gains Bipartisan Support
Bipartisan legislation introduced by Congressman Chris Pappas (NH-01), a small business owner and member of the House Committee on Small Business, has received the support of the Bipartisan Policy Council as part of the group’s bipartisan small business recommendations. The Bipartisan Policy Center advocates for bipartisan solutions to the challenges facing our country—including health, security, and economic growth.
Introduced earlier this year with Rep. María Elvira Salazar (FL-27), the COLLABORATE Act would improve the coordination of technical assistance to businesses seeking government contracts. This legislation would implement recommendations made by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) and Department of Defense (DOD) to improve contracting support, and brings best practices already utilized by the New Hampshire Small Business Development Council (SBDC) and New Hampshire Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) / APEX Accelerator nationwide to support small businesses.
“I’m pleased that this commonsense legislation to strengthen New Hampshire small businesses continues to gain bipartisan support,” said Congressman Pappas. “New Hampshire manufacturers and small businesses benefit significantly from the close working relationship between our SBDC and PTAC/APEX Accelerator. Their success ought to be a model for all states, and our legislation to improve coordination nationwide between these important programs will help ensure that more government contracts are awarded to local businesses, strengthening our supply chain and helping create good-paying jobs here at home. I remain committed to bringing the voices of New Hampshire small businesses to Washington and ensuring that they have a seat at the table.”
