Pappas Statement on House GOP Blocking National Security Funding

February 13, 2024

Congressman Chris Pappas (NH-01) released the following statement after Speaker Johnson’s second vote in two weeks to impeach Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas while continuing to block bipartisan national security funding:

“Another week, another political vote that does nothing to secure our southern border, reform our broken immigration system, provide vital aid and support to our allies in Ukraine and Israel, or safeguard American interests and service members abroad. The Speaker is once again prioritizing politics while blocking the consideration of bipartisan, common-sense legislation to address a number of the pressing security issues we face. It’s long past the time for House Republican leaders to get serious about solving problems instead of the endless political games we’ve seen in the House.”
