Pappas Tapped to Negotiate Domestic Manufacturing and Competitiveness Bill

April 7, 2022

Pappas will help shape package to bolster New Hampshire manufacturing, lower costs, and ensure America's global competitiveness

Congressman Chris Pappas (NH-01) announced today that he has been named to the bipartisan conference committee that will work to negotiate a final piece of legislation based on the House-passed America COMPETES Act and the Senate's United States Innovation and Competition Act of 2021 (USICA).

"As we work to pass landmark legislation to make more of our goods here at home, lower costs for families, and ensure America's competitiveness, I'm proud to have a seat on the conference committee," said Congressman Pappas. "I'm committed to working in a bipartisan fashion to help negotiate legislation that meets the needs of Granite Staters today and for the future. America can win this century by developing a skilled workforce, supporting domestic manufacturing, and accelerating production of critical microchips. By bolstering supply chains and reducing our reliance on other countries, we will protect national security, strengthen our economy, and lower costs for families. I look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to seize this opportunity and finalize this major legislation."

Pappas supported the America COMPETES Act and fought to pass the legislation in February to make transformational new investments in research, innovation, and American manufacturing that will ensure that America can outcompete any nation in the world, now and for decades to come. That legislation also included several provisions introduced and co-led by Pappas to strengthen ‘Made in America' provisions and support small manufacturers and rural businesses.
