Rep. Pappas Calls on House to Immediately Pass Legislation to Provide Additional Help for Small Businesses

April 16, 2020

Today, Congressman Chris Pappas (NH-01) called on House leadership from both parties to come together and immediately pass stopgap legislation to get additional help to Main Street small businesses and workers in New Hampshire:

"Congress must immediately pass stopgap legislation to address the shortfall in critical small business lending programs and provide additional resources," said Congressman Pappas. "Our small businesses and their workers simply cannot wait to get the relief that will allow them to weather this crisis. Unlike most members of Congress, I've actually run a small business and know that time is of the essence and we cannot let partisan politics get in the way of what's needed at this moment."

Congressman Pappas introduced the Too Small to Fail Act, which would make available $350 billion in zero-interest Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL) to small businesses and nonprofits affected by the coronavirus outbreak to help keep their doors open and meet their ongoing obligations.

Pappas has repeatedly called on House Republican and Democratic leadership to come together and pass meaningful support for families, local communities, and small businesses in New Hampshire and to ensure that Congress puts a focus on the urgent needs of Main Street small businesses and their workers who are struggling.
