Pappas also recommends Officer Sicknick’s family be given the option of interring his remains at Arlington National Cemetery

Today, Congressman Chris Pappas (NH-01) called for the White House flag and flags at other federal locations to be immediately lowered to half staff to honor U.S. Capitol Police Officer (USCP) Brian D. Sicknick, who was killed by armed mobs as they overcame law enforcement and stormed the U.S. Capitol last week.

“U.S. Capitol Police Officer Brian D. Sicknick gave his life in defense of our Capitol and the highest ideals of American democracy, and he deserves every honor for his selfless service and sacrifice,” said Congressman Pappas. “The President should immediately order flags at the White House and other federal properties to half staff as a show of our respect and national mourning. For his bravery and devotion to duty as well as his service in the New Jersey Air National Guard, Officer Sicknick's family should be given the option of interring his remains among our nation’s fallen heroes at Arlington National Cemetery. We must fully honor the memory of Officer Sicknick and show gratitude for other members of law enforcement who put themselves in harm's way to protect our Capitol.”
