Rep. Pappas To Co-Chair Bipartisan House Small Business Caucus

February 3, 2021

Joining Pappas as co-chair will be Congressman Kevin Hern (OK-01)

Today, Congressman Chris Pappas (NH-01) announced he will co-chair the bipartisan House Small Business Caucus, a group of Republican and Democratic lawmakers committed to strengthening small businesses throughout the country. Joining Pappas as co-chair will be Congressman Kevin Hern (OK-01).

In addition to Reps. Pappas and Hern, 69 Members will join the Small Business Caucus this Congress.

The Caucus will meet with small businesses from around the country and engage with policy experts to find common ground on some of the biggest issues facing small businesses and their employees. The Small Business Caucus will also serve as a venue for Members to share information in their efforts to best support the small businesses in their districts.

"Running a family restaurant business with 230 employees gives me a firsthand perspective into the pressures small businesses face. Every day brings unique challenges, and that is especially true during these unprecedented times," said Congressman Pappas. "That's why we must continue to focus the conversation on our struggling small business community. As the Co-Chair of the Small Business Caucus alongside Congressman Kevin Hern, I look forward to advocating for our small businesses across the nation that drive our economy and form the fabric of our communities, from Manchester to Tulsa. I know that by working together and advancing common-sense, bipartisan solutions, we will be able to help many businesses keep their lights on, retain their employees, and rebound from this period of economic uncertainty."

"Small businesses are the backbone of our economy and the bedrock of the American Dream," Rep. Kevin Hern (OK-01). "The perspective of small business leaders is necessary to the legislative process; the work we do on Capitol Hill impacts every main street around the country. After a year of adversity and uncertainty for American small businesses, bipartisan cooperation and entrepreneurial legislating is essential to secure the future of our businesses and workers. I am proud to co-chair the Small Business Caucus with Congressman Pappas, ensuring that Congress continues to make America a place of opportunity for everyone."

New Hampshire is home to 136,535 small businesses, which employ 300,628 Granite Staters. Ninety-nine percent of New Hampshire businesses classify as small businesses.

Across the country, small businesses created 10.5 million net new jobs in the last 20 years, nearly double the job creation rate of large businesses. With more than 31 million small businesses in the United States, small business recovery will be critical in helping get Americans back to work as our country rebounds from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Small Business Caucus will be crucial in bringing together members from across the aisle to further commonsense solutions that will help our small businesses recover and thrive.
