Rep. Pappas Statement on National Emergency Declaration

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Chris Pappas (NH-01) released the following statement after President Trump declared a national emergency in response to Coronavirus:
"I support the President's decision to declare a national emergency to combat the ongoing spread of coronavirus in the United States," said Congressman Chris Pappas (NH-01). "We need to bring to bear every possible resource to combat this public health threat, and this declaration is an important step to provide additional resources and speed up response efforts across the country. I continue to urge my colleagues in the House to craft a bipartisan, comprehensive response package, and I remain in Washington in anticipation of legislation that will be considered in the House today to ensure the health and wellbeing of our communities, give families the help they need, and provide direct support to small businesses, their employees, and our economy."
Today Congressman Pappas led a letter of 100 of his House colleagues calling on the administration to open a special enrollment period to help combat COVID-19.
In Manchester on Monday, Pappas met with city health and public safety officials for a briefing and update on Manchester's coronavirus preparation.
