Representative Pappas Secures Commitment from EPA Administrator to Take Swift Action on PFAS Contamination

Washington, D.C.- Today Representative Chris Pappas pressed Dave Ross, from the EPA Office of Water, during today's hearing titled "The Administration's Priorities and Policy Initiatives Under the Clean Water Act." During the hearing, Congressman Pappas expressed deep concerns over PFAS contamination on behalf of Granite Staters and called on the EPA to take swift action to address the growing public health crises across New Hampshire and our country.
Rep. Pappas:"Our state recently set new aggressive levels for PFAS in drinking water and other states have as well. We need a federal solution on this because states don't necessarily have the expertise at their fingertips, the capacity to be able to do this. We need a standard across the country that is going to protect public health and drinking water and I understand that there is a process, but we want you to share the urgency that the people who have been exposed to PFAS contamination have."
Dave Ross: "You have my commitment, we share the urgency."
Congressman Chris Pappas has taken a leadership role in fighting for better standards, increased investment, and a stronger national focus on the issue of PFAS contamination. He has led a bipartisan group of lawmakers to introduce the PFAS Registry Act. He also joined a bipartisan, bicameral group of legislators to introduce the VET PFAS Act to extend VA benefits to veterans who have been impacted by PFAS contamination on military installations throughout the country. Congressman Pappas is a member of bipartisan PFAS Task Force and has held several forums to hear from advocates and community members about the impact of PFAS contamination.
