A Statement from Congressman Chris Pappas

June 2, 2020

WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman Chris Pappas (NH-01) released the following statement in response to peaceful protesters being subjected to the use of force, including flash-bang explosions and tear gas, in Washington, DC last on Monday night:

"This shouldn't happen in America. It goes against our shared values and the fundamental rights of every American," said Congressman Pappas. "Those who peacefully seek an end to systemic racism, and demand justice for the killing of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and far too many other Black lives, must be able to freely do so without fear of their own government attacking them. This is a time for us to listen, learn, and understand the experiences of our fellow Americans and seek constructive change."
