VIDEO: Pappas Honors NH Law Enforcement During Police Week
During Police Week, Congressman Chris Pappas (NH-01), a member of the House Law Enforcement Caucus, delivered remarks on the House floor to honor New Hampshire law enforcement and highlighted his support for legislation to fund local police and first responders.
“This week is National Police Week, and we recognize the bravery of our law enforcement officers and honor the lives of those tragically lost in the line of duty,” said Congressman Pappas in his remarks. “Whether they're keeping deadly drugs off our streets, combating crime in our communities, or acting as emergency responders, our local police do lifesaving work each and every day.”
Pappas concluded: “We have to deliver sufficient funding to our local law enforcement that will ensure they can do their jobs keeping our community safe. I'm grateful for the brave men and women of law enforcement who put on the uniform to serve and protect, and I'm thankful for their family members who serve alongside them.”

This week, Pappas voted to support a number of pieces of legislation to support local law enforcement.
Last week, Pappas helped introduce the bipartisan Invest to Protect Act in the House of Representatives. This bipartisan bill makes critical, targeted investments in small and midsize police departments for the recruitment, retention, mental health support, and training.
Pappas has also introduced the bipartisan Establishing Accreditation Grants for Law Enforcement (EAGLE) Act to authorize funding for small and mid-sized police departments to earn or renew accreditation and help police departments update their standards and best practices to strengthen accountability, enhance community trust, and improve operational effectiveness.
Through his Community Project Funding requests, Pappas has secured federal support for gunshot recondition technology for the Manchester Police Department, upgraded radio communications for the Strafford County Sheriff's Department, Stratham Police Department, and Hampton Police Department, upgraded dispatch systems for the Londonderry Police Department, and improvements for Emergency Operations Centers in Barrington and Manchester.
