Congressman Chris Pappas (NH-01), Chair of the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee of the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs held a hearing today examining supply chain issues within the VA that continue to undermine the Department's response to COVID-19.

At a hearing entitled "Modernizing VA's Medical Supply Chain: Lessons Learned from the Pandemic" Pappas sought to understand the lack of accountability and other shortcomings that continue to hinder the VA's ability to manage its supply chain more efficiently and effectively.

Today, Congressman Chris Pappas (NH-01), U.S. Senators Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) and Maggie Hassan (D-NH) and Representative Annie Kuster (NH-02) announced $1,827,334 in funding through the CARES Act to support affordable housing for Granite Staters during the COVID-19 crisis. Specifically, funding was distributed to the New Hampshire Housing Finance Authority through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's (HUD) Housing Choice Voucher Program, which is used to help low-income, disabled and elderly people afford safe and decent housing in the private market.

Today, Congressman Chris Pappas (NH-01) welcomed the arrival of $82,000 in federal support for the Manchester Police Department from the U.S. Department of Justice's Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office) for the Law Enforcement Mental Health and Wellness Act Program.

These federal funds will help Manchester improve mental health and wellness services for law enforcement with training and technical assistance related to peer mentoring mental health and wellness, and suicide prevention programs.

The Congressional App Challenge is a competition aimed at encouraging high school students to learn how to code by creating their own applications. The challenge is intended to highlight the value of computer science and STEM education. The challenge provides an opportunity for students to explore coding, design and create an app, and showcase their abilities.

Today, Congressman Chris Pappas (NH-01) co-sponsored and voted to pass the bipartisan Delivering for America Act, which will strengthen the U.S. Postal Service and protect it from ongoing political attacks. Pappas returned to Washington Saturday to cast his vote.

H.R. 8015, the Delivering for America Act, would prohibit the Postal Service from implementing or approving any changes to the operations or service levels in effect on January 1, 2020, that would impede prompt, reliable, and efficient service.
