Congressman Chris Pappas (NH-01) and Senator Maggie Hassan joined Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02) and their colleagues in urging the President to restore the Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) to a Cabinet-level position. Elevating the post would enable ONDCP to more effectively coordinate drug control efforts across federal agencies and enhance the administration’s response to the opioid epidemic that has devastated communities in New Hampshire and across the country.

One of the most important roles of congressional offices is to help constituents navigate federal agencies and access additional funding opportunities.

Today, Congressman Chris Pappas (NH-01), alongside Representatives Cathy McMorris Rodgers (WA-05) and Jack Bergman (MI-01), introduced the Removing Extraneous Loopholes Insuring Every Veteran Emergency (RELIEVE) Act. This bipartisan legislation would eliminate a glaring gap in veteran emergency care insurance coverage by expanding emergency coverage under Care in the Community for veterans.

Today, the New Hampshire delegation welcomed $944,406 to New Hampshire to combat housing insecurity. Specifically, the funding supports projects that reduce unsheltered homelessness, especially in high-risk areas and rural communities. Community Action Program Belknap-Merrimack Counties, Inc. Rural SSO Street Outreach will receive $585,366, and the Concord Coalition to End Homeless (CCEH) Resource Center will receive $359,040.

Congressman Chris Pappas (NH-01) announced he will serve on three committees for the 118th Congress. He will be joining the House Committee on Small Business while continuing to serve on the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure as well as the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs.

Today, Congressman Chris Pappas (NH-01), a small business owner and Co-Chair of the bipartisan Small Business Caucus, released the following statement after his Expanding Access to Capital for Rural Job Creators Act passed the House. His bipartisan legislation would examine problems small businesses in rural areas face when they attempt to access capital.

The New Hampshire delegation today announced $24,955,036 in public transit funding for New Hampshire. The funding comes in part from the Hassan and Shaheen-negotiated bipartisan infrastructure law, which provides the largest investment in transit ever. Senator Hassan was a member of the bipartisan group negotiating transit funding.

The New Hampshire delegation welcomed $335,865 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to support Granite State firefighters in Portsmouth and Laconia through the Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) program. The AFG program provides direct financial assistance to eligible fire departments in order to enhance the safety of firefighters and the public.
