Congressman Chris Pappas (NH-01) announced his support for a suite of bills that would prevent massive increases in health care premiums for Granite Staters next year that could price families out of being able to secure health coverage altogether. 

If Congress fails to act, it’s estimated that premiums could increase by up to 75% next year, nearly $700 per person. This would also have a major impact on small businesses, whose workers represent half of adults covered by the ACA.

 The New Hampshire delegation is sending a letter to U.S. Department of Education Secretary Linda McMahon calling for the restoration of Congressionally approved funding for New Hampshire’s Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP). GEAR UP grants help states and local education agencies assist low-income students in obtaining a secondary school diploma and to prepare for and succeed in postsecondary education.

Today Congressman Chris Pappas (NH-01) joined Senator Jeanne Shaheen (NH), Senator Maggie Hassan (NH), and Maggie Goodlander (NH-02) in urging U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem to reconsider the termination of the Franklin School District’s $486,386 Targeted Violence and Terrorism Prevention (TVTP) grant. The grant, initially awarded in September 2024, was intended to support professional development and preventative measures against violence in schools and among students.
