MANCHESTER, N.H. —Several Granite State organizations met with New Hampshire's congressional delegation late Thursday afternoon to discuss what would happen if there was a freeze on federal grants and loans.

The issue took off earlier this week after a memo was filed by the Trump administration to freeze grants and loans.

The memo has since been rescinded, but White House officials said they were still working to limit the money through executive orders.

CONWAY — In a visit Thursday to the Mount Washington Valley Adult Day Center in Center Conway, U.S. Rep. Chris Pappas (D-N.H.) learned about a new federal program being piloted there.

The center, which provides day services Monday-Friday for people with dementia and memory loss, was the first stop on the 1st District congressman's visit to the Mount Washington Valley. His district includes most of Carroll County.

A widely bipartisan program started by President George W. Bush, PEPFAR has supported antiretroviral treatment for nearly 20.5 million people.

Today Congressman Chris Pappas (NH-01) released the following statement regarding President Trump’s order that beginning at 5:00 PM Tuesday, there will be a stop in “all activities related to obligation or disbursement of all Federal financial assistance.” According to the Trump Administration, this funding shutdown will halt all existing federal grants and loans and block the issuance of new grants.

MANCHESTER, NH – U.S. Congressman Chris Pappas (NH-02) on Jan. 27 visited with the team at American Medical Response (AMR) in his hometown of Manchester. AMR provides emergency medical and ambulance services for Manchester, Nashua, Portsmouth, and throughout the state. The purpose of the visit was to tour the facility and to hold a discussion about ongoing efforts to combat the fentanyl and addiction epidemic.

Today, Congressman Chris Pappas (NH-01) and Congressman Troy Nehls (TX-22)reintroduced the bipartisan Medal of Honor Act, a bill that would increase the monthly pension for Medal of Honor Recipients to $100,000 annually. Medal of Honor Recipients currently receive only $1,406.73 per month.
