The U.S Post Office in Greenland has been named in honor of the late Police Chief Michael Maloney, who served as the town’s chief for 12 years before he was shot and killed in the line of duty in 2012.

The post office at 609 Portsmouth Ave. will now be called the Chief Michael Maloney Post Office Building after President Joe Biden signed a bill sponsored by U.S. Rep. Chris Pappas, D-N.H., into law last weekend.

The bill was passed by Congress on Dec.19.

The New Hampshire delegation welcomed $15 million in Department of Transportation (DOT) grant funding to install 199 Electric Vehicle (EV) charging ports and enhance public EV charging infrastructure across the Granite State. The grant was awarded to the New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) through the Federal Highway Administration’s Fiscal Year (FY) 2024 - 2025 Charging and Fueling Infrastructure Discretionary Grant program.

GREENLAND — A bill naming the post office in town for late Police Chief Michael Maloney was signed over the weekend by President Joe Biden, according to an announcement by Rep. Chris Pappas, D-New Hampshire.

Maloney served as a law enforcement officer for 26 years, including 12 as the chief of the Greenland Police Department before he was killed in the line of duty, eight days before his scheduled retirement. He was 48.

MANCHESTER, N.H. —Porch pirates continue to strike in New Hampshire and across the country, and U.S. Rep. Chris Pappas, D-New Hampshire, is calling for increased penalties for package thieves.

Pappas said the issue is about more than Christmas presents getting stolen from doorsteps. He said the thefts can have a negative impact on small businesses, and people can be hurt when their medications are stolen.
